A long-distance relationship with a hot American businessman is the last thing on Beatrice Hart's mind when the day from hell ends with her drink-booking a last minute escape to glamorous Southern California.
With Bea's firm belief that long distance never works, will she ever consider that that an exhilarating introduction at 35,000 feet could lead to anything more than a steamy holiday romance?
Daniel Berkeley is the irresistible, delectable, smoking hot bachelor, determined to make it happen.

Sexy Berkeley Sexy Series Book 1 eBook Dani Lovell

Okay let me start off by saying that it was a cute, light read. Romantic love story with a lot... (let me emphasize)... A LOT of sex in it. I've definitely read worse but let me tell you how exactly I read this book.

"You're so hot."
"No you're so hot baby."
Sex
"Musn't get attached."
Sex
"So hot."
"Baby, you're hot."
Sex
"I'm too attached."
"Hot hot hot."
Sex
"Hot."
"No we can't be together."
Sex
Sex
SEX
Awwwwww, the end.

I swear that I must have read the word hot, sexy, beautiful at least five times on each page. It got really old really fast. Sorry, just not one I'm ever planning on reading again even if there were some fun steamy parts. I kind of got to the point where I was just praying for the end.

Sorry, not my cuppa tea.

Sexy Berkeley Sexy Series Book 1 eBook Dani Lovell Reviews

My first review of this was knocked back for inappropriate language (sorry, ). In an attempt to get it to pass this time, I'm going to stick with dot points.

* FINISHED READING Yes. Barely. I had to go off and read other things three or four times to get through it, because it was utterly predictable, boring, frustrating, and long-winded. I distinctly recall getting about a third of the way through, feeling exhausted and facepalmy, checking how much was left to go, and feeling absolutely horrified at the fact that there was still another 70% or so in the wings. I think that's when I went off for the first time to binge on other books. As another reviewer mentioned, you'll feel a strong need for a literary palate cleanser to break up the monotony and repetition ... it just goes on and on, in the same vein, for AGES.

* PLOT SUMMARY (with spoilers) It's hard to summarise something that wasn't really there, but here goes -- girl and guy meet, are attracted, have sex, start freaking out over how much they apparently 'mean' to each other, moan and whine endlessly to anyone who'll listen about how the distance between them (different countries) makes everything impossible, have more sex, exchange nauseatingly repetitive comments on each others' apparently perfect bodies, call each other 'baby' and not much else, wring hands some more, etc. For chapters upon chapters. Eventually they get together. Thank all that's holy it's over! If you've ever had a long-distance relationship and made a serious go of it, these two will drive you nuts. Compromise? Effort? No, let's just have sex and whine some more!

* MATURITY In a ratings sense, there's a lot of sex. Not as much as most I've read in this genre, but certainly more than others. If you're planning to buy this as a stroke story, however, don't bother. It isn't worth the calories you'll expend turning pages (even virtual ones) in an effort to avoid all the ridiculous emotional stupidity they engage in at all other times. In a mental sense, this falls squarely into juvenile wet dream territory. If you're a starry-eyed adolescent who wants seemingly never-ending and completely unnecessary angst between your protagonists (hello, Twilight fans!), by all means, pick this up and enjoy the living daylights out of it. Otherwise, no. Just no. Steer clear.

* NITTY GRITTY I don't recall too many glaring errors on the spelling/grammar front, though it's been some time since I read this (and I really, really don't want to ever read it again), so I might have forgotten some. Really, even if it does have some editing issues, they pale in comparison to all the other things I've already mentioned. The incessant "baby" and "hot" talk bears another mention, however. If you hate repeated phrases, terms of affections, and so on, you will detest this book.

* RATING BREAKDOWN Half a star, base. doesn't let you do half-star ratings. The half star is there because it was free. I would not recommend this title.
I found the opening of this story a bit hard going for a couple of pages, however, it quickly turned into a very entertaining read. One of those that you start and don't really want to have to put aside until you know how it works out, which can be a bit of a pain, as it's quite a lengthy read.

The heroine, Beatrice (Bea), and the hero, Daniel, are very likeable. There is an element of insta-lust that become insta-love, which I usually find very irritating, but on this occasion it's handled with great credibility. What happens with these two is the same thing you hear about around the family dinner table - the couple everyone knows who met on holiday, fell in love and it somehow all worked out when it really shouldn't have, given they knew each other so briefly. Not to say there wasn't conflict. There is a major conflict in the story that has to be resolved for the HEA.

I docked a half star because sometimes Daniel seemed just a little too good to be true (I know, jealous, much!). Also, the dialogue was a bit too down pat on occasions. Nevertheless, it was a great story and I really look forward to the sequel, which is based upon two of the very well-developed secondary characters. (The cliffhanger at the end of this story relates to those secondary characters, not to Bea and Daniel - this book can be read as a very satisfying stand-alone).

Note, for those who care, the book contains few editorial errors (just the odd misspelling throughout) and the writer demonstrates technical proficiency.

Great story, really enjoyed it and will definitely be continuing on with the further books in this series.
